Our Story

Nourish NYC was founded by Sunnyside resident Claire Carsen, after discovering there was a real need for high-quality natural products in the neighborhood.

I always had to shop in Manhattan for `premium natural foods, safe hair and skincare, organic children's products, and even gift ideas. Now it's available here!"

"Consumers are literally and figuratively hungry for more education on how to improve their personal health and well-being," says Claire. Claire is currently training for her 4th marathon and understands the importance of maintaining optimal energy for maximum performance. You don't have to be a marathon runner to benefit from a more natural and balanced approach to nutrition. With a few simple changes to diet, our bodies function so much better. Claire says, "Even a balanced and nutritious diet leaves small deficiencies in vital nutrients, this is why supplements are so significant. We often fail to realize that simple complaints such as with digestion, low energy and general aches and pains can be helped."

"Customers have already helped define what they want us to stock," says Claire, "but it goes beyond that. We listen carefully to what customers tell us works for them and their families, and we partner with them in providing quality products and informed guidance on all aspects of health."

Claire grew up in England working in her family's successful retail stores; she has lived in the United States for 25 years. Her studies include nutrition and natural health and fitness. Claire also enjoys cycling and yoga and believes keeping fit and active at any age is good for our general wellbeing.

Claire has lived in the Sunnyside community for 14 years with her husband Paul and their 10-year old son, Jack - who you will often see helping out in the store.
