NATURAL PROFILES: Real stories about real people - naturally!
Darragh Leddy - Vegetarian Teenager
NATURAL THINKER:
Darragh was born in Sunnyside and enjoys a very active
lifestyle, including being a competitive swimmer. She has been a vegetarian for the past 5 years
since her adorable Guinea Pig died, and she decided at that moment to no longer make animals part
of her personal food chain.
NATURAL NOURISHMENT: Darragh's favorite food type is Indian because
of the variety and the spicy flavors. "It was so much fun testing some of the delicious vegetarian
foods for Nourish NYC." Said Darragh. "I chose some of the organic frozen entrees and meatless soups
and love the tangy Papadum chips.
NOURISHING ACTIVITIES: Darragh is a proud alumna of the St. Sebastian Swim
Team in Woodside. She and her family are now actively supporting the Swim Strong Foundation (501c3)
to help more children learn the life lessons that competitive swimming teaches. If you are interested

 Emily Kilbane - Nutrition for the teenage brain
NATURAL THINKER:
At 16, Emily is in her most important studying years and needs energy and brain power to get through a
tough school year at St. Vincent Ferrer high school where she attends - and this year was placed in AP chemistry, AP history and several honors classes.
NATURAL NOURISHMENT: Emily lives in Sunnyside Gardens and is always willing
to try the latest natural foods that her mother, Anna, comes home with. "Some of it is just plain
weird and we have a good laugh" says Emily, but my mom taught me how to make smoothies, which is an
easy way to get my fruits, flax and essential vitamins in one go."
NOURISHING ACTIVITIES: Emily adds, "I definitely have more energy now for the long
homework hours. Let's hope it helps me in the test scores too!" She is looking forward to sampling the new juices and smoothies at Nourish NYC.
Mary Finnegan - Mother of three kids and eats one salad a day
NATURAL THINKER:
Mary Finnegan has more energy than the kids she teaches! Most people know Mary from the
endless volunteering and charity work she does, not to mention bringing up three healthy kids,
one in college, one in high school and one in elementary.
NATURAL NOURISHMENT: Even with her busy life, Mary manages to find
time to eat a delicious salad every day, and comments: "I'm crazy for salads, it makes me feel
better and I find with the right combination, salads can deliver a healthier, more youthful skin.
One just has to find the time to either make or buy a healthy salad, instead of grabbing for the quick junk items."
NOURISHING ACTIVITIES: Mary is looking forward to her first visit to Nourish NYC,
"I'm hoping to find some healthy snacks for the kids, I just don't know what's out there, so it's going to
be fun seeing what kind of new natural foods are available now in the neighborhood," adds Mary.
